ABOUT

As a Los Angeles native Gene Prizer has spent much of his life living the typical Southern California lifestyle - near the water. If he wasn’t on the beach he was usually sailing in the local waters and beyond.

The lure of the sea was rivaled only by his passion for sailing and photography, which he discovered at about the same time and at a relatively young age. Yachting and seascape photography were a natural progression since he seldom traveled anywhere without his camera and was continually sailing.

Like many photographers his inspiration came from the works of such legendary lensmen as Richard Avedon, Guy Bourdin, Hiro, Irving Penn, and Edward Weston. Eventually his photographic interests broadened and he developed is own style that now include landscape, lifestyle, portraiture, tabletop, and travel.

Gene currently resides in Huntington Beach, California where he is active in sailing and raising his young son Jack.
